Abraham & Margaret were on the 1861 Census, Abraham was a Grocer, Draper & Wesleyan Local Preacher. Frederic was only 5 years old. Abraham had died by 1878 when Frederick was married.
I was very disapointed, I was hoping he would have been our Captain William Emmott !!! I'll have to go back further. When Annie Ellis came to Australia about 1882, to marry my Grandfather, John William Dawson, she bought with her a Dictionary that belonged to a Captain William Emmott. It is very heavy, so it must have come in her cabin trunk, probably with her trouseau, & all things needed to set up house. So when was this Captain William Emmott born ?? & did he survive the Battle of Trafalgar ?? & how was he related to us, that Grandma brought this heavy dictionary with her??
I have wondered if this William Emmott was related to Frederick Emmott that married Florence Dawson in 1911
Cousin Ron Connor, Aunty Mabel Dawson/Connor's son, was in England last year, & was down in Emsworth? near Portsmouth, they were waiting for the local Pub to open, to have their evening meal, & they met a group of men from the Trafalgar Club & he asked them could they look up if Captain Emmott was in the Battle of Trafalgar, but the Chancellor of Chichester University rang back the next day to say sorry, he wasn't, but if we were interested in selling the Dictionary it would be worth a lot of money.
