March 1916, went to Magdeline College, Oxford, where he gained his commission as a 2nd Lieut.
when Lieut. Pickup (another old Auburn boy) was wounded Lieut. Perry took command of the Coy., and for the manner in which he led his men he was given his 2nd star. Lieut. Theo Perry was killed in
action 5/4/1918, after two & a half years' service. He was greatly loved by the men under him, &
was a very fine officer. On the death of Lieut. Theo Perry his mother received the following letter through the Governor-General:- "The King & Queen deeply regret the loss you & the Army have
sustained by the death of your son in the service of his country. Their Majesties truly sympathise
with you in your sorrow." The Governor-General also expressed the heartfelt sympathy of Lady Munro Ferguson and himself in the death of "this gallant officer."
