Obituary, Yorkshire News - 17.8.1940 - DEATH OF MISS DAWSON.
The death occured on Monday 10.8.1940 of a well known Silsden figure, Miss Jane Frances Dawson, 19 Skipton Rd, Silsden, who was 77yrs of age & was a member of an old Silsden family & several of her brothers including "Ned Dawson", the former Keighley, Yorkshire Rugby League Club forward took a prominent part in local sport for many years.
Miss Dawson was also a member of the Silsden branch of the Women's Liberal Association since its formation & for a long time took an active part in the functions arranged by the branch.
THE FUNERAL took place at Silsden on Wednesday afternoon, a service at the Parish Church being conducted by the Vicar Rev.E.E.Peters. The interment was in the Old Cemetery.
Family & friends attended the funeral, also Mrs.W.Taylor (secretary) representing the Silsden Women's Liberal Association.
