My father (Robert Hunter Cook) started one of the 1st Shirt Manufacturing businesses in Sydney at Balmain about 1896. My brother Herbert, after leaving school went in with him, then my brother Ernest. Arthur went into the Printing Business, eventually finishing up with his own business. Then when I left school I went in with my Father in the shirt factory and stayed in that line of business until I retired, although not in the business father had started. During the Depression of 1930 everything went haywire, so it was a case of starting from scratch again. I took on a factory manager's job and gradually got on my feet again, and finished my working days as a Manager of an Industrial Clothing Factory. I am now 75 and in good health, still able to drive my own car and enjoy life without any worries. My wife is also in good health.
