Narrative
John was a Congregational Minister, & served at Eccleston, East Janalli & Gymea, & Christchurch Launceston in Tasmania. Then as a Uniting Church minister at Gymea/Miranda, before they retired to Gerringong . He was President of the Congregational Union of NSW - 1968/1969, Director of Crossways Community Care Centre 1972/1977, State Secretary of Community Aid Aboad NSW (Oxfam), 1977/1982, Social Planner/Manager Community Development at Campbelltown Council, 1982/1998, Chairman of Argyle Community Housing, 1982/1998.
John had a great 70th Birthday party in 2002 with all family & friends, but the highlight of the year included his being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the Queen's Birthday Honours, "for services to the community, particularly in the areas of Aboriginal education & reconcilliation, migrant assistance & the provision of housing for the disadvantaged". at Crossways Centre, Miranda. Now, in his retirement, John is suddenly involved in Presbytery work (which he avoided for the first 20 years of the UCA). In the Illawarra Presbytery he chaired the Pastoral Relations Committee.
