Willis was born 1868 at 12 Barton St, Pendleton, Salford, Lancaster. # 235.
Willis arrived at Moreton Bay, Q'land on "Hampshire" on 17 July, 1883.
6/5/1930 - SMHerald - TWO MEN KILLED - Fell down Lift Shaft.- A simple accident - the mere shifting of a plank upon which they were standing - caused two workman to fall down a deep lift well yesterday. They were both killed. They were:- Willis Kay, a lift worker, of Paling St, Leichardt, and Horice Bismire, labourer, of Connemarra St, Rockdale. The former died shortly after his dreadfull fall. The latter was taken to Sydney Hospital by Central District Ambulance, and died there. The two men were working on new premises at Raleigh Park, & were on a plank on top of the deep lift well. Unexpectedly the plank tilted, precipitating them into the shaft. (The men were working on the new building for W.D. & H.O. Wills at Zetland).
