If Ellen McFedden & Frederick Freiboth were married on 22/5/1858 at the Presbyterian Church in
Macquarie Street, they were married in what was called the "Iron Church".
"The discovery of gold in 1851 brought many thousands rushing to NSW. This sudden influx of population created many problems, & the Deacon's Court, realising the need for a larger Church, decided to send to Scotland for an Iron Church to seat 800 persons, as skilled labour was costly as well as scarce, because of the gold fever then raging. The Iron Church, after much delay, was erected, the total cost being 7,000 Pounds, and the Congregation left the Pitt Street Church in 1855 to meet in the new church in Macquarie Street. The Rev. Dr. Cairns, of Melbourne, conducted the opening service. The sale of the Pitt St. Church reduced the liabilities of the Deacons' Court to a little over 8,000 Pounds. Rev. Alexander Salmon was Minister at the time & he was the one that signed Ellen's Marriage Certificate.

It was very confusing finding records for Ellen & Frederick. The marriage was recorded as Treibath, the children's births were recorded as Freiboth, Frieboth, Freibeth & Freiberg etc.
I haven't bothered to look for any children for Louisa, Amelia, Alfred or Bertha in Melbourne.
