I have a Copy of Martha's Baptism in Parish Church Sth Petherton, by Rev John Sanderson.
Charles & Martha Irish came to Aust. on the "Harbingar" in 1849. They lived in a small cottage in Ash Street, Sydney between George St & Pitt St., where Martha Planted her 1st Oak Tree.
They moved to 21 Trafalga St, Petersham which they named "Petherton" when their family grew larger. Martha planted more Oak Trees. Their daughter Susan lived with them. She died in 1915, age 65yrs, unmarried.
I have been given the "Funeral Cards" for both Charles & Martha Irish. Their 60th Wedding Anniversary was on the 19th Sep, 1904 & Martha died a couple of weeks later on 1st Oct, 1904 aged 82 yrs old, & Charles died the following year, aged 88yrs.
SMH - Martha IRISH, died 1st October, 1904, at her late residence, Petherton, Trafalgar St, Petersham. beloved wife of the late Charles Irish, aged 82 years.
FUNERAL - The Friends of Mr. Charles IRISH, Sen., are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral of his dearly loved wife, MARTHA IRISH, to leave his residence "Petherton", 21 Trafalgar St, Petersham, This afternoon, at 2 o'clock, for the Necropolis, via Petersham Station. They are buried in Rookwood Independant Section E, #1120 at Rookwood Cemetary.
