Saturday, 19 Sept, 1904. MARRIED FOR SIXTY YEARS.
Few couples live to see their 60th anniversary of their wedding. The unique occasion was celebrated last Monday by Mr & Mrs Charles Irish, who reside at "Petherton" Trafalgar St. Petersham. They are a happy couple, of the true Bulldog English breed, who settled over half a century ago in Sydney. Both are natives of South Petherson, Somerset, England. Mr Irish was born in 1817, so that makes him 87 years of age. Mrs Irish is not so old, although she is 82. They were married in the year 1844, at home, by the Rev. H. Bond, & 55 years ago reached Sydney, where they have since resided. For some years Mr Irish followed his trade, the business of a tailor, & resided in Ash Street, where Anthony Horden & Sons mammoth Store is now being built. He continued to follow his trade actively till 10 years ago, when he retired, although as recent as six years ago, he turned out a coat for a friend, just to show that his hand had not lost its cunning in the art.
As a result of the marriage 13 children were born, of whom 8 survive. One son is engaged at Grimley's, the Saddler, in Clarence St, while another is with Mr C. Grimley, of Gilgandra. The daughters are Mrs G. Brooks (Stanmore), Mrs H.E. Notting (Summer Hill), Mrs T.W. Miller (Petersham), Mrs G. Corbett (Naremburn), Mrs C. Butler (Summer Hill), & Miss Susan Irish, who resides with her parents. There are 21 grandchildren, and one Great-grandchild. Sisters Mrs Sarah Horsey, & Mrs Susan Harding, live in Sydney, & a brother Mr Samuel Irish, lives in Brisbane, and a sister Elizabeth in England, who has reached the grand age of 92 years !!!

SMH - Charles IRISH, died 6th July, 1905, at his residence, 227 Trafalgar St, Petersham, aged 88 years.
FUNERAL - The Friends of Messrs John & Charles IRISH are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral of their late dearly loved Father CHARLES IRISH, to leave his late residence, Trefalgar St, Petersham, To-morrow, at 2.15pm, for the Necropolis, via Petersham Station.
