Arthur was named Arthur Clarke after his Grandmother Susan Clarke.
Arthur was Single, aged 27, a Farmer, of Owen St off Mary St, Toowoomba, Qld.
He enlisted 30/10/1915, Private #21 in 42nd Battn, A Company. The Unit embarked from Sydney, NSW, on board HMAT A30, "Borda" on 5 June, 1916. He was in the same company (42nd Batn) as his brother Frank, & sailed on the same boat as Frank. Saw action in France, returned to England sick,
10/2/1918. On 19/7/1918, returned back to France. Returned to Australia on 29 August, 1918. Discharged 28/12/1918.
Nov 1991 - Letter from Mrs.Alison Rogers to say Arthur was buried in Toowong Cemetery # B009409. He had only just turned 41 years old when he died!! and a bachelor. I wondered whether his war service effected his health.
