My Grandfather Walter Grist was born on 27/10/1874 at 11 Kingsmead Terrace, Bath. I have a book presented to him for 3rd prize from St.Pauls Sunday School, (but where!!) I bought his birth Cert. also the birth Cert. of both his sisters, when I was in London in 1994. His fathers name was John Henry Grist, & the whole family came to Aust. on the "Lusitania" sailed on 29/12/1883, for Sydney.
Grandma & Grandpa Grist lived in High St, Kent St, & 76 Queen St, Woollahra when they were 1st married, then moved to Ashfield, Kogarah, then Ocean St Penshurst in the 1920's.& 30's . My Grandfather was a Carpet Layer & Upholsterer for Beard Watsons. Wilma says he would have been an Interior Decorator nowdays. Wilma said her mother Hilda & Aunty Elsie used to make up Curtains for him before they were married. After he retired he used to cover the seats in the Picture Shows up in Newcastle.
Grandpa Walter & my father Norman bought a couple of Acres of land on the waterfront near Como. They had to sell it during the Depression. I think it was near where the suburb of Bonnet Bay is nowdays. They also bought the house at 908 Rocky Point Rd, Kogarah & lived there for a while before Dad was married, then Dad took it over. then they moved back to Penshurst, in the 1930's. I think it was a bit later they moved to 141 Ross St, Belmont. in the 1940 & 1950's.
