Mum was born at Cobden St, Enfield. My mother did her Nursing Training at St. George Hospital, Kogarah. She was Sister in Charge of the Childrens Ward. She met my father while she was nursing at St. George (he had his apendics out). She left to get married.
As we grew up in the 2nd World War, there was a shortage of everything - we had to have food coupon to buy food, clothing coupons to buy clothes, money was short - everyone had to learn to economise. So Mum became an expert sewer, she made all our clothing. I can remember her sitting up late at night so she could finish off our dresses to wear to the Sunday School Anniversary. After we were all married Mum did a Tailoring course at Sydney Tech. College, so she could make suits for herself.

FUNERAL - The rels & friends of the late FRANCES ISABEL GRIST of South Hurstville, formally of Strathfield, are invited to attend her funeral, which will leave the Uniting Church, Gymea Bay Rd, Gymea, Monday next, after a service commencing at 10am, for Woronora Crematorium.
