Edward's father Thomas Ashcroft established wholesale & retail meat industry, & it was carried on by his son Edward J.Ashcroft. Edward had a bucher shop on the cnr Macquarie & Scott Sts, Liverpool.

FUNERAL - ASHCROFT - The friends & rels of Mrs. E.J. Ashcroft & Family are invited to attend the Funeral of her dearly beloved Husband & their Father, EDWARD JAMES ASHCROFT, to leave his late residence, Collingwood, Liverpool, to-morrow (Sunday) Afternoon, at 3 o'clock, for the Church of England New Cemetery, Liverpool.
Edward was one of the owners of "Collingwood House". I was there at a family reunion in 1992, & met Miss Enid Ashcroft & the Rowe family. When the fence was taken down around St.Lukes Church, about the time when Westfields Shopping Centre was built. The memorial gates, which had the plaques in memory of Edward & Eliza were erected at Ashcroft High School, we go past the gates every time we go to our daughter Roslyn's place.
