Narrative

Alfred & Eva's Marriage on 23/5/1894 was at Church Street, Parramatta according to the rites of the Congregational Church, by the Rev. Henry Gainford. Alfred was a Law Clerk & Eva a Music Teacher,
Alfred lived in Smith St, & Eva lived in Church St, Parramatta. The wedding probably took place at the Purnells home. In the presence of - Gysbert Bongers (Alfreds brother) & Linden Percy Purnell (Eva's brother) I got a copy of their Marriage Certificate on 22 Nov, 1985.
Kennion & Pearl were born in Parramatta, but Stanton was born in West Wallsend, Newcastle.
Alfred did his training at Morpeth Anglican College.
Crockford's Clerical Directory 1931:- Deacon 1906, Priest 1907 Newcastle. Curate of Minmi with West Wallsend 1906/7; Muswellbrook 1907/8; Minister of Cessnock 1908/9; Rector of The Myall with Wallamba 1909/12; Nabiac 1912/13;
I took a photo of "St. Paul's Nabiac Rectors" notice board about 1986, which shows Rev A.J Bongers as the 3rd Rector in 1909-12. Not long after I rang the Rector of Newcastle Cathederal, & he sent me a copy of the 1931 Crockford's Directory with Alfreds appointments in it.
Alfred, Eva and the children must have gone to New Zealand about 1915/6 because of Alfred's health. I don't know whether he had a Church in New Zealand, but he died at Purewa, Auckland on the 3rd July, 1918 as recorded on the
A.G.C.I., only 49yrs old. I don't know where is is buried.
